Objectives:
- To
encourage students to verbalize Òmath thinkingÓ by translating words to
numbers and symbols
- To
increase problem-solving ability by introducing different methods of
solutions
- To
understand the importance of math definitions and their appropriate use
- To encourage
students to compete in Math Olympiad and MathCounts using positive
reinforcement
- To foster
a rudimentary interest in mathematics and to apply mathematics in real
world situations
- To
introduce students to above-grade topics so as to prepare students for math
competitions
