Description: English writing: Crafting arguments / Ethan McBride Course description: Every piece of writing is argumentative. From personal essays to news articles, all writing is, in some sense, argumentative. Thus, there is nothing more important to developing ones writing skills than learning how to develop and present an argument. In this class, students will first learn the components of a good argument, and then learn how to make good arguments in practical situations (with a heavy focus on writing): analytical essays for school, college admissions/personal essays, colloquial conversations, etc. Age requirement4th grade and above (Ethan McBride is a rising senior studying mathematics and philosophy at Yale University. )
