Description: Build game and animation using Scratch for young kids The computer knowledge and programming skills can improve young kids creativity and problem-solving ability, and further help them to have productive and successful years in high school, college and later job career. Two challenges to teach young kid computer and coding are: 1) they have difficulty to understand the concepts in computing due to its complexity, and they will lose interest soon if they cannot understand; 2) the limited applications kids can apply the knowledge and skills, consequently they will forget the skills very quickly. To address these challenges, MIT developed a platform named Scratch (scratch.mit.edu) for teaching kids (from 8 to 16-year old) coding by developing games, animations and storytelling. This class will introduce Scratch to young kids and help them to understand programming concepts by building games and animations using Scratch. Students will gain knowledge of game design, coding concepts such as variable, control flow and loop. After completion of this class, kids are ready to learn either more advanced concept of Scratch (such as function and extension) or a programming language, such as Python and Java. The teacher, Yu Liu, has PhD in informatics field in Canada, and enthusiastic in teaching young kid new technologies. He moved to states ten years ago, first worked as supporting staff in a university in Ohio, then worked in biotechnology industry. Currently He is working in Healthcare industry in Connecticut. ڸ˵Ժֻ㷺ӦõĽ죬úӾյԼǺܶҳĹʶСѧϰԼս1 ̫СԸӵ֪ʶ̫ûģԼҳͺӶһĥ2ѧ˵֪ʶ֮󣬺ûлӦãܿͻΪӦЩսMITһScratchƽ̨ScratchĿ8-16ĺӣϷͶνСʹScratch򵥵ϷͶͬʱ̻ĵԱ̸ѧγ֮󣬿ԽһѧϰScratchĸ߼ܻ߿ѧϰıԣPythonJavaεĽʦӵITӦIJʿѧλڶͯѧ͹ҵʮľ顣ĿǰConnecticutҽƹҵ繤
