Description:	In Beginner Chess Class students learn all the basic rules of chess, piece movements, capturing, check, checkmate, stalemate and much more! Students become confident in their ability to play a complete game, all the way to checkmate! NEW in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022: SCCS students enrolled in SCCS chess classes will have the option of challenging fellow SCCS students to chess games online during the week, through the entire term. A private online class list for SCCS chess students will be set up to facilitate this and make it easy to challenge one another to chess games! In addition, SCCS chess students will continue to have the option of entering and playing in weekly online tournaments organized by the Hamden Chess Club at no additional cost, and a chance to win gift card prizes.
